Join Alaska guide and professional photographer John Schnell on an incredible photo tour with Alaska Sailing Charters. John's images have appeared in Audubon and Nature Conservancy calendars, in numerous periodicals, and on the web sites of many adventure travel companies (including ours).

Each tour will offer plenty of great photo opportunities. During extensive field sessions, you'll also gain a deeper appreciation for the visual aspects of nature. You'll experiment with different perspectives, improve your photo compositions, and explore creative digital imaging techniques.

The workshop fee is based on the level of accommodations you prefer aboard the Kirsten Anne, and includes professional guiding, field sessions, and expert photo instruction. Suite rates are per person, and are based upon double occupancy.

Granite Fjords: July 19-26

On this amazing photo expedition, we'll experience the beauty of the Inside Passage, and observe spectacular humpback whale behaviors in Icy Strait and Frederick Sound.

On our journey, we'll see charming fishing villages, an incredible array of wildlife, and the breathtaking scenery of the Inside Passage. We'll observe bears, sea lions, and sea otters, as we cruise quietly along the shoreline. We’ll explore the muskeg and rainforest of Tongass National Forest, and the dramatic tidewater glaciers and icebergs of Tracy Arm, Endicott Arm, and LeConte Glacier Bay.

Price: $3,150 to $3,750

Glacial Giants: July 29 - August 4

Join us on this exciting sailing expedition, and photograph the scenic wonders of Alaska's Inside Passage aboard the Kirsten Anne, a luxurious 49' sailboat operated by our captain Neil Nickerson, and Alaska Sailing Charters.

The fascinating geology, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking scenery of the Inside Passage are the setting for an unforgettable photography workshop. Calving tidewater glaciers, majestic mountains, whales, bears, eagles, shore birds, marine mammals, alpine wildflowers, and colonizing plant communities await us on this special tour.

Price: $2,380 to $3,350

Alaska's Wildlife: August 8-13

This photography tour focuses on two of Southeast Alaska’s greatest attractions – whales and wildlife.

We’ll start by observing the productive humpback whale feeding areas west of Admiralty Island and at Pt. Adolphus. We’ll also explore the Tongass National Forest, where we’ll photograph bears, land and marine mammals, eagles and shore birds that inhabit the rainforest and coastal areas adjacent to Icy Strait.

The views we'll see during this expedition are unbelievable. The itinerary is relaxed, allowing ample time for hiking, kayaking, relaxing, exploring, and beach combing.

Price: $2,400 to $2,850

During each of our photography tours, you'll create captivating images of the the incredible scenic wonders and wildlife of Southeast Alaska. You'll see and photograph humpback whales, seals and sea lions, brown bears, bald eagles, glaciers, icebergs, old-growth rainforest, and amazing displays of wildflowers.
